I know how I have been talking alot about how giving is better than receiving. And most of the time, it is. Except if the "Talented Mrs. Winslow" makes you a pair of spiffy new socks...Of course the minute I saw what Cheryl was working on in her studio, I knew they were "blog-worthy"...Seinfeld watchers, you get the concept.
The shorter ones were made for Cheryl's daughter, Robin. The long skinny pair on the left were made for my size 10's. By the looks of the pointy toes, you'd think that they'd be all bunchy at the front of your feet...right? Actually, the fronts (and the whole sock) are smooth and warm and "pretty much heaven" on my feet.
The set-in heal is a really comfy detail too. CW is a human knitting machine...Like her sewing, it's precise and consistent.
In the spirit of "Hand Made Things for the Holidays" (thanks Lizzy!)...How about a little game of show and tell? Include your email address in your comment and I'll get back to you with my email address...if you want me to post a picture.
Back in two shakes...H2

Wonderful sox! I am trying to stuff down the desire to learn to make sox.. I know how to use the double pointed needles, but the heel turning thing scares me.
I made pillows for Frankie this year, and that was fun. I've made so many gifts over the years my family is thrilled for the store bought stuff!

The socks are fabulous! I love them. I've never asked anyone to make me some because of my huge feet (size 12), but someday I'll learn. I've got a late holiday gift almost finished--when it's done (later this week), I'll let you know!

Pam the heel turn is the shortest step! Give me few days to get there (knitting mine now) and I will post the process on my blog.
I am flattered and blushing by Holly's comments. I just thought the socks would look great with her pj's. Now she knows why I kept looking at her feet. I'm sure glad they fit.

Oooh you are so lucky!! They look wonderful. Learning to knit socks is on my ever-growing list of stuff to learn for '08. Of course I came equipped with skis instead of normal feet, so it may take an unnatural amount of yarn...

As a rabid knitter I can attest to the wonders of the hand knit sock! AHHHHHHHHH. Actually, the hand knit everything! :)
I contributed heavily to the hand crafted Christmas this year in a knitted hat-a-thon+ and all recipients seemed to be quite taken with their gifts!
