My Favorite Things...103...Warm Toes!

I know how I have been talking alot about how giving is better than receiving.  And most of the time, it is.  Except if the "Talented Mrs. Winslow" makes you a pair of spiffy new socks...Of course the minute I saw what Cheryl was working on in her studio, I knew they were "blog-worthy"...Seinfeld watchers, you get the concept.

Blogsocks

The shorter ones were made for Cheryl's daughter, Robin.  The long skinny pair on the left were made for my size 10's.  By the looks of the pointy toes, you'd think that they'd be all bunchy at the front of your feet...right?  Actually, the fronts (and the whole sock) are smooth and warm and "pretty much heaven" on my feet.

The set-in heal is a really comfy detail too. CW is a human knitting machine...Like her sewing, it's precise and consistent.

In the spirit of "Hand Made Things for the Holidays"  (thanks Lizzy!)...How about a little game of show and tell?  Include your email address in your comment and I'll get back to you with my email address...if you want me to post a picture.

My Favorite Things...61...Finding Amanda!

Blog-able Feast Post Script

Good news on several fronts today...

Number One...We sent out the search party, and WE'VE FOUND AMANDA...Most of you didn't know she was missing, but behind the scenes at HOLLYCAKES, there was a panic going on a week ago tonight!
Amanda's back from her quilt retreat..with lots of stories.  She's going to tell us all about her retreat...the teachers, a local barbecue hot spot near her, and her divine dessert recipe too.

So here she is our last, but not our least...Amanda!

Number Two...It's a miracle, after three long weeks of waiting, poof! my Typepad comments area is now working again!  (Maybe all my whining is a winning tactic after all!?)  It looks like I can't go back and answer those of you who commented during the "black-out period"  But I can pick up where we are today...so forgive my lack of blog etiquette, and let's move forward, yippee!

Number Three...Contest & FREE STUFF
In the spirit of a little friendly competition, I thought we'd do a little contest, as an off shoot of our Blog-able Feast...

Here are the basic contest guidelines.

Two categories:

1.  Best Comment, by an attendee/visitor
.  Who can nominate for this?  a) Blog-able Feast participants and b) the non-nominated Blog-able Feast guest.  As in...Most thoughtful or thought-provoking, poignant, FUNNY, etc.

2.  Best Blog-able Feast Guest Blogger. Who can nominate for this?  Blog-able Feast attendees OR Blog-able Feast participants who are not nominating themselves!  As in...Best Recipe, "Style Points", Most Interesting, Most Creative...whatever and whomever amused you the most during this event. Megan is excusing herself, since she wouldn't want her little quilt give-away to influence your better nature! And hey, I am giving out the prizes, so we are back to a regular dozen to vote for, including tonight's "post script guest - Amanda!"

Prizes will be given out in both categories:  A $25.00 gift certificate from Williams Sonoma, a pattern for our "Big Pocket Apron", the LakeHouse fabric of your choice & rick rack embellishment (from my private stash) to make it.

How do you do this?

Starting NOW, Leave your nomination/comment on THIS POST ONLY.  On Friday October 5th, I will pick a winner in both categories.

If it's not readily apparent who the winners are in each category, (I'll be the  judge of that!) we'll leave it up to Kammie & Vickie (my bib wearing, whip cream eating, beater-licking kitties) to pick two names "out of the hat".

Sooner we accomplish this, the sooner we can start a new give-away, I say...With so many new things, tis better to give than receive, I always say...aren't I a tease?

Thanks so much to all the participants on both sides of the event.  I for one, had so much fun.  Some of you made me laugh, and other's tugged at my heart strings.

It's all good  ;)

My Favorite Things...43...Rescue Remedy

I have given my "Rescue Remedy Sermon-ette" to far too many people of late.  It dawned on me last night that it would be a good thing to put up a picture of it and then tell a lot more people about it, and you turn in turn will tell your friends...

Blog441650

Talking with Sweet Brenda about her adorable Bailey and his troubles with bigger pups in doggie training class, RR came to mind. I opined.  M2 is getting on a plane with her twins for the first time...Aunt Blabby opines again.  Why do I bring this up?  Because it really works.  I learned about it from one of my old friends, Leslie McGuirk who used it for her two adorable Norwich terriers when they were under stress.

I first used RR on Jasmine, one of our rescue kitties. She had been caught in a humane trap as a wee thing, and never really seemed to get over it.  Of the four kittens and mom that we trapped, she was definitely the "toughest nut to crack".  For the first year she lived with us, she avoided Paton, me and the other cats like the plague.  After learning about RR, and within a few days of putting a few drops of RR in her water bowl, Jasmine was jumping up on the bed and allowing us to pet her. She got relaxed with us for the first time, she even purred.  Then I started brushing her, which she loved, and things just got better from there.  Rescue Remedy opened the door for all of us.

With Fall Quilt Market approaching and so many of us working too hard for too many days in a row, I am doing what I can to make the experience more pleasurable, and I will not hesitate to put a few drops under my tongue if things get tense.

Skeptical?   just google "Bach Flower Essence" or go to the Dr Bach website.

I'm off coffee, but "I still loves my sugar"...The first of our Blog-able Feasts:  "A Dazzling Dozen Delicious Desserts" is coming up soon.  We've put things off a tiny bit, what with kids going back to school and so many of us in the throes of FQM.  So it's looking like mid-September now.
