Welcome Ladies, to my little garden of earthy delights...
There is an old estate near my studio named Skylands Manor that has been turned into a botanical garden. The original owners took great pains to import trees, flowers and foliage from all over the world. This Primrose Garden is just one tiny part of a huge estate. My friend and neighbor "Amiable Amy" took me on a walking tour there the other day. I learned a lot about primroses...they love a) water and b) to be in partial shade...No wonder I'd always thought of them as an English flower.
The most unique thing about this garden, is that in a wild setting, primulas aka primroses, will bloom repeatedly, giving them a multi-tiered effect. I had never seen any primulas that weren't a single head on a single stalk before.
Here they are in all their glory next to a little stream...
And looking back...
Here's the one of my shots of the primulas close up..notice how the lower tiers die off, as the new growth appears.
I hope that these little lovelies put a smile on your face today...I wish you could have all been there with me...it was a very unusual experience.
Back in two shakes...H2
